The 2022 Jetta is powered by the new and improved four-cylinder 1.5L turbocharged engine that outputs an impressive 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. On top of being able to provide strong accelerations thanks to its superior torque, it deploys outstanding fuel economy, achieving a rating of 7.7 L/100 km in the city and 5.7 L/100 km on the highway with the state-of-the-art 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Elantra uses a four-cylinder 2.0 L unit as a base engine. It is paired with a less sporty Continuously Variable Transmission. Even if it delivers similar fuel consumption ratings, the Jetta is much more efficient with more horsepower and torque.

Need more performance? The 2022 Jetta GLI moves up to a turbocharged 2.0-liter which delivers a whopping 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The GLI lets you choose between a standard six-speed manual transmission if you like more interaction, or a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Elantra also has an N Line an N models. The first one is equipped with a 1.6L turbocharged engine that produces 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. This is not enough to catch to The Jetta GLI. The N model delivers slightly more power, but the supplemental cost and comfort sacrifices are simply not worth it.
